DeVilbiss VacuAide Suction Machines offer compact and hygienic medical suction which can be translated to a huge number of environments. The Elbow Connection is a necessary component when using the legacy External Filter, allowing a compact connection between the filter and the canister.

Please note that this is a legacy component, and the DeVilbiss VacuAide Portable Suction Machine Bacterial Filter (Pack of 12) is simpler to use, does not require a separate external filter and is ultimately better value.

Is There a Simpler Alternative?

Yes! DeVilbiss have integrated the filter and elbow connection in the DeVilbiss VacuAide Portable Suction Machine Bacterial Filter (Pack of 12), compatible with all the same devices and components as using this external filter and elbow connection system. We recommend this alternative since it is both easier and ultimately cheaper than using the legacy filter.

How Do These Filters Work?

These hydrophobic filters are designed to prevent fluids or bacteria from entering the internals of your suction machine. If fluid comes into contact with the filter, it will swell up and block the device. This helps to protect the practitioner and reduce the risk of cross-contamination between patients, as well as make sure the device does not become damaged or faulty.

Can I Wash This Elbow Joint Between Uses?

For use by the same patient, and in cases where they are not considered contagious, it is possible to wash this joint with warm soapy water between uses. This allows it to be used for multiple suctions while maintaining appropriate hygiene.

How Often Should I Change the Elbow?

As a single use item, the elbow joint should be changed in between patients. It should also be changed if it begins to show any signs of wear or degradation. For usual use with one patient – although this varies highly by circumstance – it will probably need to be changed around every two to three weeks.
