Who Can Use the Comprifore 4-Layer Compression Bandage?

The Comprifore 4-Layer Compression Bandage Kit has been designed to provide sustained graduated compression for leg ulcers caused by venous insufficiency and venous valve incompetence. It is suitable for anybody requiring continuous compression of 40mmHg to support venous return.

It is advised that the advice of a nurse, doctor, or other medical professional is sought before applying the Compression Bandage Kit. This is to ensure that the required level of compression for the patient will be received, as certain conditions may benefit from a different level of compression or style of bandage.

How Does the Comprifore 4-Layer Bandage Kit Work?

The Comprifore Bandage Kit works by combining all of the components required for adequate compression in the treatment of venous leg ulcers. As it provides compression for up to seven days, it works continuously to support venous return.

The 4-Layer Compression Kit delivers a high stiffness factor to provide effective compression; this is crucial for sustained effect as a higher stiffness promotes a higher working pressure and effect of the muscle pump. As the compression reduces the local blood volume, in turn leading to lower venous reflux and the reduction of ambulatory venous hyperextension, the bandages provide the best conditions for the ulcer to heal.

Four-Layer Compression

The Comprifore Bandage Kit provides four bandage layers, with an additional initial layer for improved wound care and reduced infection. Each bandage layer provides specific properties to help encourage the healing of the venous leg ulcer. They are as follows:

Cutimed Sorbat WLC

This sterile wound contact layer with microbe binding action protects the wound while it is at risk of infection. It also provides low adherence for atraumatic and pain-free dressing changes.

Absorbent Padding Bandage

This layer distributes pressure and levels any mistakes in the application technique. It also protects bony prominences, and absorbs exudate in case of filled wound dressings.

Light Conformable Bandage

This bandage layer provides the fixation of the padding bandage. This provides an additional layer to help secure the bandage in place.

Light Compression Bandage

This layer provides light compression to the leg ulcer. It has a central coloured line to help with correct application.

Flexible Cohesive Compression Bandage

The final layer provides overall compression to the area. It also allows for secure fixation due to good cohesiveness, ensuring the other bandage layers can remain effective.
