What Does the Parafricta Pressure Relief Single Bedsheet Do?

The Parafricta single flat sheet provides protection to patient skin where there is an increased risk of friction and associated shear damage. This may include the following:

This product is ideal for bedbound patients, preventing friction caused by frequent sliding and repositioning. It may also provide increased comfort for users with skin conditions irritated by contact with conventional, less smooth sheets.

Which Mattresses Are Compatible with This Sheet?

This flat sheet is 292cm long and 172cm wide, designed to fit a standard single bed mattress (190 x 90cm). It is suitable for flat and tilted beds, especially ideal for dynamic pressure relieving mattresses.

What Is a Dynamic Mattress?

Dynamic mattresses, or alternating air pressure mattresses, contain air cells that alternately inflate to eliminate pressure zones. There is less polycotton on the edges so that you can’t tuck it in. This is important when using a dynamic mattress, as tucked-in edges could lead to a hammock effect which may be dangerous for an immobile user.

How Do I Position My Patient on the Parafricta Sheet?

This product features a thin polycotton rim and low-friction centre (Parafricta panel). The panel should always be located under the trunk of the user. When the sheet is being used for skin protection, the heels should rest on the panel, but if it is being used to aid self-repositioning, they should rest on the polycotton. This is displayed in the image below.

How Do I Clean the Flat White Sheet?

Parafricta sheets should be washed in a hot (60ºC) synthetic cycle in a domestic washing machine, or on a 95ºC cycle if maximum sanitisation is required. Line dry or tumble dry on a low, synthetic cycle setting. In a professional laundry, the sheets may be washed on a cycle that includes 70ºC for up to 10 minutes, or at 95ºC cycle if maximum sanitisation is required.
